The HANS DEVICE
Protecting Against Head and Neck Injuries

The head and neck support (HANS) device is worn by motor racers to protects their head and neck during a crash and is mandatory for most racing bodies including Formula 1 and NASCAR

The HANS device rests on the shoulders of the driver and is held in place by the driver's seat belt. It attaches to the drivers helmet by clips which prevent the head from being thrown forward during a crash
